On the southeastern edge of Valencia, only a short distance from the city centre, the port and Santiago Calatrava’s monumental City of Arts and Sciences, lies La Punta — a landscape that seems strangely out of place within the modern city.
Here, urban infrastructure, industrial development and dense housing meet a centuries-old agricultural landscape. Fields, irrigation channels, farmhouses and narrow paths still occupy the spaces between roads, railway lines and port facilities. The historic Huerta de Valencia has survived here in fragments, increasingly surrounded by the expanding city.
La Punta is a landscape in transition. Its agricultural character has been under continuous pressure from urban development and the expansion of the port. Yet much of the original structure remains visible, creating an unusual coexistence of rural life and metropolitan infrastructure.
This series documents La Punta as it exists today — a place caught between preservation and transformation, where the boundaries between city and countryside have become increasingly blurred.
