Metropol Parasol

Setas de Sevilla, originally conceived as Metropol Parasol, designed by the German architect Jürgen Mayer H., was completed in 2011 on the Plaza de la Encarnación in Seville. Rising above the historic city centre, the timber structure combines a public square, market, archaeological museum, elevated walkways and viewing platforms within a single architectural gesture.

The photographs explore the project through its interplay of structure, light and movement. Rather than documenting the landmark as a whole, they focus on the changing relationship between its organic geometry, the surrounding urban fabric and the experience of moving through the space. The series examines how scale, rhythm and perspective reveal different readings of an architecture that is both sculptural object and public place.
